Use the SOCK environment variable as shown below (where /alt is the value of the prefix parameter for the tcp stack) in order to specify which instance of io-pkt nicinfo should use to gather interface statistics.
SOCK=/alt nicinfo
There is one caveat, utilities such as nicinfo treat legacy io-net drivers slightly different than io-pkt drivers. For example legacy drivers are all named using the "en" prefix followed by the interface number (ie. en0). Avoid renaming io-pkt drivers to use the "en" prefix as this can cause compatibility issues with utilities such as nicinfo.
